Apparently, Mickey got a little experimental with some of his cocktails by adding a little dash of chloral hydrate. Its a drug that renders you unconscious. Mickey would work out an arrangement with some of his employees to slip some of this drug into the drink of a well-to-do patron, then quietly rob them in a back room while they were unconscious, and finally leave them in an alleyway. When they woke up, they couldnt remember what had happened.This all caught up with Mr. Finn in 1903, when he was finally arrested and his saloon shut down. Amazingly enough, his escapades were notorious enough, that his name became synonymous with overstrong cocktails, that to this day it serves as his eponymous legacy.In slang, a Mickey Finn”or simply a Mickey”is a drink laced with a psychoactive drug or incapacitating agent (especially chloral hydrate) given to someone without their knowledge, with intent to incapacitate them. Serving someone a "Mickey" is most commonly referred to as slipping someone a mickey.
