Description
Corralejo Reposado Tequila 750 ML Hard to find !Corralejo tequila was founded in 1755 and was the first commercial producer of tequila in Mexico, with copper pot stills from Spain, wood-fired adobe brickovens, and French oak barrels for aging. Today, over 200 years later, tequila production continues at Corralejo much as it did in the past. Hand-harvested weber blue agave hearts (pinas) are slowly baked in adobe ovens, then crushed in a stone mill; the "aguamiel" (honey water) is fermetned, then double-distilled in copper pot stills, and aged in barrels made from Limousin white oak barrels from France. Each Corralejo bottle is hand-blown and hand-labeled, individually numbered and registered to ensure its authenticity. Corralejo Tequila takes pride in its heritage as the top quality, hand-crafted producer of Mexico's first and finest tequila. Blind tasted in Mexico City against the country's 21 top tequilas, Corralejo Reposado Tequila won the Grand Award in 1997. Tasting Notes fruit-filled, with hints of pepper, exceptionally smooth and clean, this is a rare and unforgettable experience.Tequila is produced in specifically designated geographic regions of Mexico, most notably Jalisco. The town of Tequila, in the state of Jalisco, was founded in 1530 by the Ticuila Indian tribe, who produced pulque from the state's native blue agave plant. It is thought that the word tequila means "lava hill" in the Ticuila tribe's native tongue, since the town is located near a dormant volcano. Sometime later, perhaps a few hundred years or so, folks in Mexico began to acknowledge that the finest agave was produced around the town of Tequila. This resulted in the name of the town being increasingly used as the name for the spirit. Around 1870 there were a dozen Tequila distilleries in Mexico.
