The result is an incredible balance of sweetness, and spice, followed by a toasted oak finish.This Single Pot Still is inspired by the Three Swallow tradition of coachmen bringing along small flasks of Powers whiskey on long rides. Just enough to give each man a good swallow, but not enough to interfere with the job.Powers John's Lane 12 Years Old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. Aged for a minimum of twelve years, this whiskey was named the Irish Whiskey of the Year in 2012 by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.Crafted at the Midleton Distillery, Powers Irish Whiskey 12 Year John's Lane Release is named after the original Powers Distillery, which was situated on John's Lane in Dublin.The whiskey is made exclusively from malted and unmalted barley, which is triple distilled through pot-stills in traditional Irish fashion. Following distillation, a portion of the whiskey is matured in first fill ex-bourbon casks, while the remainder is aged in casks that were previously used to mature Oloroso sherry. After a twelve-year beauty rest, the whiskey is bottled 92 proof.Powers Irish Whiskey 12 Year John's Lane Release has a sharp aroma of honey and spices that gives way to notes of leather, charred wood, milk chocolate and apricots on the palate. The finish is chewy and bold, with touches of herbs, fresh citrus and honeyed oak. Every drop is triple distilled, with more cut from the top and tail of the second and third Pot Still charges. This means only the purest heart of the distillate is captured. This is then left to mature in select American oak casks which allow our distillate driven style to shine. Powers Gold Label is blended with the finest grain whiskey, also exclusively matured in American oak casks. Finally, a proprietary Powers eproduction technique enables a non-chill filtration at 43.2% ABV “ unique amongst Irish whiskey.Theres a reason why no other whiskey tastes like Powers - no other whiskey is made like Powers.
