MOLINARI SAMBUCA EXTRA 750 ML Molinari Extra is a sweet and strong liquor, anise-flavoured, prepared with a recipe that the Molinari family will never reveal, made from star anise seeds, sugar, herbs and rather fine and precious spices. The technical processes are extremely accurate and precise, in order to meet the highest standards of quality “ both for the production and the product. For this reasons, Molinari is a premium product; the "Extra" in the name states the superior quality of our Sambuca.COLOUR: transparent, crystal-clear.BOUQUET: sweet and persistent, with an unmistakable flavour of star anise.TASTE: pleasant, warm and full on the palate. Full-flavoured, with a long persistence of anise. ALCOHOL CONTENT: 42% by volume.The name "sambuca" has rather obscure origins and meaning. Most certainly, it has nothing to do with elderberry (sambucus, in Latin), although several dictionaries claim the opposite. In fact, elderberry is not one of the many herbs used to make "sambuca". Other hypothesis “ rather hard to verify, though “ include the idea that the word derives from the Arab noun zammut, which is related to the concept of "pleasant scent".In our opinion, the most believable version comes from Luigi Manzi, the first to produce Sambuca in Civitavecchia (Antica Sambuca Manzi 1851), who wrote, in June 1851, he chose the name because sounded similar to "sambuchelli" “ or "acquaioli", i.e. water and anis sellers “ in his native Ischia. We have no reason to doubt his claims, even if - until now - no proof has arisen. Molinari Extra is obtained by the sweetened infusion of star anise dried seeds, from which is obtained “ through distillation “ the essence of anise and the essential oils that represent the base of the flavour.
