Corsair Wild Fire WhiskeyChildhood friends Darek Bell and Andrew Webber began home-brewing beer and wine in Darek and Amy Lee Bells garage. They hit a snag while working on a prototype bio-diesel plant, causing Andrew to remark that making whiskey would be much more satisfying. The idea stuck, and the two soon found themselves studying distilleries and spirits. Soon after, Corsair Distillery was founded. Wildfire is an American malt whiskey pot distilled from hickory smoked barley.Corsair Wildfire Whiskey is made from a base of 100% malted barley and smoked with hickory smoke wood (leading to the "wildfire" name). They claim it is their first "grain-to-glass" whiskey in that it is all produced on site... including the smoke. It was first released in 2015. Corsair is absolutely correct when they say Wildfire is reminiscent of barbecue sauce. Im impressed that hickory-smoked barley can imbue that savory flavor into a whiskey. Corsair Artisan Distillery is a small-batch, hand-crafted spirits company making "just a few cases at a time." Their copper still is from 1920 and holds a mere 240 gallons. It was founded by Andrew Webber and Darek Bell and today has distilleries in both Kentucky and Tennessee.
